A Kick In The Teeth

Another day, another trip to the dentist. A piece of one of my molars broke off a couple months back. I didn’t think anything of it at the time, but I probably should have paid more attention to the unexplained crunchiness of whatever it was that I happened to be eating at the time. My mother remarked to me today about how rundown and drained I’m looking lately. What would a visit home be without some constructive criticism. It’s got her concerned, and with good reason I’d say. I feel like crap lately, and quite often find I barely have the energy to make it through the day, which usually wraps up with me laying on the couch for several hours before crawling to bed in the middle of the (more…)

Not Too Young To Remember The Simpler Times

Lately I can’t shake the feeling that there is something fundamentally wrong with the world, or at least the way that society operates at a global level. I’m speaking of course from a North American point of view with respect to a social perception of the globe. A sense of community, of collective spirit, seems difficult to locate in an age which continues to encourage partaking in the ever increasingly superficial, and in many cases unnecessary, luxuries of the 1-click, digitally enhanced, all-consuming birth of the 21st century. Apple Reveals Green Agenda

It’s no secret to anyone who knows me, I love Apples (the computers as well as the fruit). I’m also keenly interested in issues involving the environment and the future of the planet, so it was a nice surprise to read this article [PDF] on Apple’s website earlier today. Greenpeace had been giving Apple a pretty hard time with their ‘ilove my apple, i just wish it came in green’ campaign, which is likely a large part of why Apple made the statement in the first place. Greenpeace responded with quite a bit of celebration [read here], but has said that Apple, and many others, have a long way to go. I’m glad to see Apple leading the way in the tech industry with their new plans for a greener (more…)
